Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to welcome your student and you to the Rochester Institute of Technology—a place where innovative minds are nurtured and personal growth is supported through a vibrant community, service opportunities, and, for those who seek it, faith-based experiences!

We take pride in our Catholic ministry presence at RIT, where we offer a range of services to support the spiritual, intellectual, and emotional well-being of our students. Our Catholic ministry is centered in the Interfaith Center, and we are dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment that reflects the values of Catholicism while serving the diverse needs of our student body.

QUICK FACTS:

  • Catholics represent the largest single denomination at RIT, making up about 30% of our student population.
  • Over 200 students regularly attend one of our two Sunday Masses.
  • More than 50 student leaders are actively involved in planning and facilitating nearly 100 events each year.
  • We are in the exciting process of developing a new Catholic space on campus to better serve our growing and dynamic community.

Our Chaplains are here to provide pastoral care around the clock, and we understand how important it is to have a supportive community while your student is away from home. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any needs or concerns. We are here to be an extension of your family and to offer a 'home away from home' for your student at RIT.

We look forward to meeting you during Orientation Week or at other events throughout the year, whether on campus or in your local area!

Blessings to you and know that your student is embarking on a remarkable journey where faith and learning go hand in hand, supported by our Catholic Newman Community.

In Christ,

Fr. Brian Cool
